If January is any indication of the year ahead, it’s going to be a busy one. From GDPR rising to Carillion collapsing, the expanding role of contract management (and the need for alerts) and the changes coming in the realm of procurement technology, we covered a lot of ground this month.
Looking ahead, contracts will continue to be a focus, as they become more essential and more integrated across other functions – sourcing, procurement, supplier management, etc. That’s because the business world, and the world in general, is becoming a riskier place. Contract lifecycle management is critical to mitigating that risk, whether through creating pre-onboarding supplier validation clarity or establishing procurement contract compliance for spend control.
But, like Kelly Barner mentions in her blog below, contracts themselves are experiencing big changes. They will likely always have a multi-year focus, but with business, economic and other conditions changing so rapidly, contract terms may not reflect reality year-to-year. The changing nature of contracts and contract management is the focus of our webinar with IACCM on January 30. If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time.
