From the CFO perspective: A look back at September resources.
DetermiNews this month was all about looking at source-to-pay, procure-to-pay, sourcing and contract management from the unique vantage point of the CFO. Finance is integral to every area of an organization, and that gives the CFO and financial teams a birds-eye view of everything going on at all times. No wonder the role is changing, with an increasing share of responsibility, added reporting structures and influence.
Whatever role someone has in an enterprise, that job description has to include collaboration. As business becomes more complex, open dialog through a collaborative strategy is key to solving business challenges efficiently and effectively. As you’ll hear in our two-part Determine OutLoud podcast with Mark Joyce, EVP and CFO of Corcentric, and Kelly Barner, the CFO has to work in partnership with procurement, legal, sales, IT and the C-Suite continuously to keep objectives on track.
“Having shared goals” is a common theme in organizational surveys from industry analysts year after year. So wherever you sit in an organization, and whatever your reporting structure, making sure there is alignment with wider corporate strategies is what will keep your company competitive. Curtailing tail spend, for instance.
The other advantage of goal alignment is being prepared for the future. Matt Clark, President and COO of Corcentric detailed what that future could bring for CFOs and CPOs — which means we all have to be prepared.
